Chapter Service Award
September 1 - There are certain members in Chapters, Special Interest Groups and Regional Groups that go above and beyond the usual contributions to the success of the group. The purpose of the MAFCA Service Award is to provide national recognition to those individuals who have demonstrated a continuing and selfless service to others in the Model A hobby.
Nominees must be current MAFCA members and the nomination form in the Policy must be submitted in writing before October 15.
For more information, consult the full policy in the Members Only section of the new MAFCA website.
Announcement from Webmaster Rick Black
August 30 - Today is the last day I will be making any changes to this website as the new site will soon be rolled out. After more than 20 years, I'm going to miss providing MAFCA members with the information on this site.
Thanks to all of you who have provided information, content, and A OF THE DAY photos for our mutual enjoyment. I'll still be around to support the new website.
If you have any comments or suggestions or just want to talk about Model A's,
you can contact me at mafcaweb@gmail.com.
Any mail to webmaster@mafca.com will be sent to the new webmaster.
The new webmaster will be finalizing the new site within the next few weeks. He's got a lot of web experience and is a car guy too.
Check out our new website which will debut in the next few weeks by

Model A T-Shirts and More
August 24 - At today's Board Meeting, it was noted that our new web advertiser Model A T-Shirts and More had a problem with their website earlier this year where clicking on the link to their website didn't work. They discovered the error on their side and have fixed it.
So if you previously tried to access their site and the link failed, please try it again.
Reading the Digital Restorer
Ever wish you could zoom in on the text while reading the Digital Restorer on your computer? Well, you can!
Just double-click on any page and 3 zoom controls will appear on the lower right side of the screen. The + will zoom in; the - will zoom out. And the double-sided arrow will exit the zoom mode. This will work on any Mac or Windows computer.

Late 1931 Fuel Shutoff Survey
August 23 - One of our members "discovered" that not all late 1931 Fuel Shutoffs work the same way. Your webmaster could not find anything in the Model A Instruction Book that explains how the valve operates.
The member found that some of those shutoffs have the open/close lever pointing at the front of the car when the gas is on and with the lever pointing to the right side, the gas flow is off.
But he found most late 31 valves that work the exact opposite – on those, when the lever points to the right, the gas is on and when the lever faces forward, the gas is off.
If you have one of these valves that shuts off when pointing to the right, please contact the webmaster.
We've had 12 replies to our "survey". So far, only one example of the valve that shuts off to the right has been found.
Convention Update
August 5 - Just a quick update for MAFCA 2024 National Convention registrants.
A letter was mailed to each registrant of the 2024 National Convention on Monday July 1, 2024. This
letter includes the total funds paid by each registrant for the convention and gives information on how
to request a refund, along with other options.
Please look for this letter in your mail. Refunds began being processed by The Southwest Model A’s
on August 1, 2024.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this process.
